Willy's Local Food Doubles as Cafe and Organic Convenient Store
In addition to the fall farmers’ markets around urban Providence, it can be quite convenient to have a small neighborhood grocery store that stocks organic and local products, gets local produce from Farm Fresh Rhode Island and also doubles as a deli and café.
Willy’s Local Foods is doing all of that and more. In keeping with owner Will Sherry’s goal to support local farmers and producers, the café’s “morning eats” (served all day) list a parfait of Providence Granola Project granola with Narragansett Creamery yogurt and two items that use Baffoni’s eggs; the caprese sandwich has Narragansett Creamery mozzarella with fresh tomatoes and basil, and Willow Tree chicken salad is a featured sandwich. Willy’s breads are from Wayland Bakery; the freezer stocks Three Sisters ice cream and beef from New England Grass Fed; Sherry makes his own hummus and mac ‘n’ cheese; Venda Ravioli pasta is available, as is Twin Oaks sauce. In other categories, there are local soaps, music (a CD by The Mighty Good Boys) and snacks, such as packaged biscotti, cookies and popcorn.
