Pat and Kelly McNiff are a young farm family (a toddler and a summer baby on the way), raising healthy, pastured, humanely raised chickens, pigs, turkeys and beef cattle on acreage they lease from the East Greenwich Land Trust. Pat’s Pastured began in 2002, selling at Coastal Growers Market at Casey Farm in Saunderstown, where Pat was employed at the time. He quickly expanded to other summer and winter farmers markets in Newport and Providence and, as the business grew, he began to make deliveries to wholesalers around the state. Recently, that delivery system expanded to home deliveries, for which customers leave coolers on porches or doorsteps and receive their online frozen orders deposited therein.

“We wanted to make it as convenient as possible,” McNiff explains, “for busy families like ours to eat the healthiest food, raised in a humane manner. Plus, being pasture-raised makes a huge difference in the flavor and the quality of the meat.” On the website, customers place orders for home delivery or for optional pickup at the farm store (on Fridays) and three farmers markets. Customers can choose from chops, ground beef, fresh eggs, Farmer Franks (hot dogs), sausages, whole chickens or parts, plus other local products, including lamb from Hopkins Southdowns, Lost Art Culture Foods kraut, maple syrup and more to come.
