We designed this drink to evoke comfort and contentment, something to sip on the porch with a friend or while watching a new band. My Southern family recipe for sweet tea and the fresh lemonade are simple, fresh and easily scalable for bigger events. The results are low-fuss with high drama from the lovely color separation.

Ingredients

  • ounce ISCO x Myrtle Vodka
  • 2 ounces maple sweet tea*
  • 3 ounces fresh lemonade**
  • Fresh mint or sage sprig for garnish
  • ½ dehydrated orange wheel for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill a stemmed glass with ice; add vodka and sweet tea. Gently pour in the lemonade over the back of a spoon to create the float effect. Garnish with fresh herbs and orange slice. Makes 1 cocktail. (Sweet tea and lemonade recipes make enough for approximately 10 servings.)

*Sweet Tea

  • Bring 1 quart water to a boil and turn off heat. Add 5 orange pekoe tea bags, steep 10 minutes; add a pinch of baking soda, ½ cup maple syrup; stir, cool. Pour into a clean jar and refrigerate up to 1 week.

**Lemonade

  • Bring 1 cup water to a boil; add 1 cup sugar, stir to dissolve; cool to room temperature. Add 1 cup fresh lemon juice and 2 cups water; funnel into a clean bottle and refrigerate up to 2 weeks.
