Gadgets Galore and Much More

Gray Goose Cookery is the kind of cozily packed, imaginatively organized store that begs for a tour, gladly led by co-owner Suzanne Lane. Lane, with husband, Bob, established Gray Goose Cookery in the Olde Mistick Village complex (Mystic, CT) 39 years ago; they moved to Watch Hill, RI, in 2018. Suzanne’s cooking interests started early, with blue ribbons in 4-H and a large family of home cooks. That led to a stint as a chef in New Hampshire and then to the Cookery.

The Lanes’ love for all things culinary shines throughout the store, with themed displays for breakfast, baking supplies (cookie cutters, popover pans, jelly-roll pans), pizza-making and fish cookery, plus areas for cutting boards, storage items, flatware and chef knives (Wusthof, Shun, Global), bone china and melamine dinnerware, glassware, teapots and accessories. Throughout the store are Le Creuset pans, skillets, casseroles, et al. And scattered quite tastefully among the cooking and serving items are beautiful linens: potholders, napkins, tablecloths, dishtowels. Customer (and Suzanne’s) favorite gadgets are from Dreamfarm: pizza shears, cherry pitters, self-sharpening peelers, silicon combo chopper/spatulas and the award-winning “fluicer,” a cleverly designed flat-folding citrus squeezer. Gifts abound for family, friends and your own kitchen, too!
