Gleaning carrots at Four Town Farm in Seekonk.
Eva Agudelo, founder and executive director of Hope’s Harvest RI, and her volunteers harvested 215,000 pounds of produce for people in need in 2020.
Agudelo says, “If you have to take a bus every two weeks to get to a food pantry, we want to coordinate our efforts so that what you get is truly fresh, because we just picked it.”
Hope’s Harvest is the only organization in Rhode Island getting food for people in need by gleaning what’s extra or left behind in farmers’ fields.
