Handmade for the Hardworking Kitchen at Andiamo Woodworking & Design
Utility and beauty find a perfect balance in Andiamo Woodworking & Design’s wooden cutting boards, handmade in Warren. The boards are designed to last, and come with a lifetime guarantee. Owner and craftsman John Hugo makes all the Andiamo products by hand in his studio, experimenting with different shapes, styles and woods.
The boards are made of primarily of hardwoods from the northeastern United States. They are typically maple, cherry and walnut but Hugo also works with other types, including native Rhode Island white oak. All the boards are seasoned with mineral oil and beeswax, making them ideal for serious chefs and heavy use. The beeswax comes from Hugo’s own hives, and he hopes to eventually sell bottled beeswax along with the boards.
Many of the boards are classic rectangles, and Hugo also plays with some whimsical designs, such as geometric shapes, sailboats and the popular sperm whale design. Many Rhode Island restaurants have Andiamo cutting boards in their kitchens, both for their artful style and their functionality. Custom orders are also available.
