The Humble Pie Company, a Providence-based bakery, is proud to present its third annual pie eating contests in celebration of Pi Day on March 12. The event will run from 11am to 1pm at the Hope Artiste Village during the Pawtucket Wintertime Farmers Market. There will be three separate contests open to pairs, individuals, and kids.

Typically observed on March 14 (the calendar equivalent 3.14), Pi Day is a national holiday that celebrates the mathematical symbol by - what else? - eating pie.

Every year, proceeds for the event have gone towards DownCity Design's educational design/build programs throughout Providence. However, winners of the contests don’t go home empty-handed - prize packages with local products and the exalted Champion Pie Pans are awarded to the fastest eaters. Not to mention music, pies for sale, and surprises for spectators of all ages.

Information and sign-ups for Rhode Island's next pie eating champions can be found at http://www.humblepiepvd.com/piday/
