On March 22, Governor Gina Raimondo, frustrated with Rhode Islanders not taking her social distancing advice seriously, warned us all to “Knock it off.” Asher Schofield, co-owner of Frog & Toad in Providence, enlisted Maret Bondorew to put the phrase on a T-shirt. The shirts went viral and with them came culinary collaborations. White Electric Coffee and New Harvest Coffee Roasters combined forces with Schofield for Knock It Off Stay at Home Brew, a medium blend; Proclamation Ale Company made Knock It Off beer, a double IPA (with glassware); Palm’s Locally Made (out of Hope & Main) has issued “Knock It Off She’s the Boss Barbecue Sauce,” created from owner Walt Palm’s grandmother’s recipe; and Bywater in Warren offers a Knock It Off cocktail mixer made with Rhode Island Spirits craft spirits. All are donating a portion of their sales (up to 20%) to the Rhode Island Foundation Covid-19 Response Fund. By June 5 Knock it Off sales reached $60,195 in donations.
