Barefoot in the Grass

This recipe is inspired by two of my favorite summer smells: fresh-cut flower bouquets and fresh-cut grass.

Ingredients

  • 1½ ounces Industrious Spirit Company Ornamental Gin
  • ¾ ounce cilantro syrup*
  • ¾ ounce fresh-pressed lime juice
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Preparation

In a bar tin, add gin, cilantro syrup and lime juice. Add ice and shake vigorously for 10 seconds; double strain through a Hawthorne and fine-mesh strainer. Pour into a rocks glass filled with ice and garnish with a sprig of cilantro. Makes 1 cocktail.

*Cilantro Syrup: Add 1 cup boiling water to 1 cup honey and cool. Prepare an ice bath. Pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 cup chopped cilantro. Rest 15 seconds, then quickly strain and plunge herbs into the ice bath. Remove herbs and squeeze to remove excess water. Blend the cilantro and honey syrup together until smooth. Fine strain into a clean glass bottle and refrigerate up to 1 week.
